Frequently asked questions

How is this consultation different than the one provided when booking scans?

This consultation offers the same quality service as the consultations included in our diagnostic scan packages. The key difference is that it allows you to seek advice on choosing the right scan before booking, if you're not sure. If you do go on to book a scan, the cost of the consultation will be discounted from your scan fee, as you will have already spoken to a member of our clinical team.

Why does the consultation cost money?

We work with a dedicated team of GPs, radiologists, and musculoskeletal specialists such as physiotherapists and osteopaths. The cost of the consultation covers their time reviewing your notes before they speak to you, as well as the phone call they provide. This also means that you don't need to pay full price for a scan you're not sure is right for you. By having a consultation, you can feel confident when seeking a scan, or choosing an alternative care route.

What happens after the consultation?

If your clinician feels a scan is clinically appropriate and suitable for you, you'll receive an email containing a link to book your scan. You'll have plenty of time to decide - the link is valid for 12 months. You'll also get the cost of your consultation discounted from your scan booking automatically when you book with Scan.com.

Your clinician might conclude that a scan isn't clinically appropriate for your individual needs. In this case, your clinician will recommend alternative care routes during your call.

What happens if I miss my consultation?

Your clinician will call you within two working days of booking to provide your consultation. Our clinical team work 8am-8pm, Monday to Friday, and may call from a withheld number, so we kindly ask you to answer unknown callers within this time to prevent delays to your consultation.

If they can't reach you, they'll try again later and send you a message, which you can reply to with any further details about your upcoming availability.
