Key Features

Private Early Pregnancy Scans

Finding out you’re pregnant can be an exciting yet anxious time. An early scan can make sure your pregnancy is off to the best possible start, and estimate how far along you are and how many babies are on board.

  • Your early reassurance scan

If you’re looking for peace of mind at the start of your pregnancy, our early scan is designed to put you at ease. We’ll check your pregnancy is viable, estimate the gestational age of your baby, count the number of babies and try to visualise a heartbeat.

  • A choice of scans throughout your pregnancy

Book a scan with us from as early as 6 weeks, with follow-on options up to 38 weeks, to cover the full scope of your pregnancy journey and complement NHS scans.

  • Find a pregnancy ultrasound scan near you

Our scan search allows you to choose from over 20 pregnancy scanning centres nationwide, to find a convenient location near you.

  • No hidden costs

Compare pregnancy ultrasound scan costs upfront, and find a price to suit your budget, starting from £80. The price you pay includes copies of your scan images and expert care at your selected centre.

What can an early pregnancy scan show?

An early scan takes around 15 minutes, and can be carried out from 6 weeks into your pregnancy.

Viability & heartbeat

An early scan can check if your pregnancy is viable and progressing normally, and visualise a heartbeat (from 7 weeks)

Number of babies

In your early scan, you’ll find out whether you are pregnant with more than one baby (e.g. twins).

How many weeks

You’ll receive an indication of gestational age - how far along you are in your pregnancy, and when your baby is due.

Reassurance

Early scanning can assess the causes of any pain or bleeding, and rule out ectopic pregnancy and some structural abnormalities.

What is an ultrasound scan?

And how does it work?

Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to generate pictures of your baby while you’re pregnant. It’s safe and quick, and doesn’t use any radiation.

Most early scans can be carried out trans-abdominally (externally), but if the images are not clear enough, a transvaginal (internal) scan may be offered during your appointment.

Our early ultrasound scans can detect and confirm pregnancy from six weeks and a heartbeat from seven weeks.

How long does an early scan take?

An early scan is a short examination of around 15 minutes. We ask you to arrive 15 minutes early, and you might be required to wait on-site after your appointment while your results and images are prepared.
