Private X-ray scans in Bristol
Bristol runs uphill and down, from the harbourside up to Clifton and out through Bedminster, Fishponds and the ring of towns beyond, Portishead and Yate among them. An X-ray gives a flat image of what is going on in bone and joints, and it works for teeth and for soft tissue such as the lungs too. A private booking means you choose the date instead of being handed one.
Bristol private X-ray scan costs
Prices start from £210 for a private X-ray in Bristol. The price carries your referral and a clinician consultation with it.
How do I book a private X-ray scan in Bristol?
Search by postcode or move around the map, whichever suits. Prices sit next to each centre, so working out which one you want takes very little time. A short booking and safety form comes next, covering your history and what has brought you in. Payment confirms it. Nobody needs a GP referral, and we handle the appointment and the results from that point.
Why book with us?
There are hundreds of locations in our network, which is the UK's largest for medical imaging, and a referral is never a condition of using it. Booking online is quick. You will hear from a clinician in a matter of hours and be scanned inside a few days. No queue to wait in means the date and the place are decided by you. Results come through digitally and can be passed to your healthcare professional.
Preparation for X-ray scans
Most people need to do nothing at all in advance. Your usual meals, drinks and medication carry on unchanged. The exception is specialist procedures, which come with requirements of their own, and the centre you book with will send its own instructions covering whatever applies to your appointment. Worth reading them when they land. You may be given a gown to put on once you arrive. Jewellery, a belt, a watch, all of it comes off before any images are taken, so leaving the bulk of it at home saves a bit of bother.
The procedure
The scan is run by a trained radiographer, who takes you through the process before anything begins. The exposure lasts moments and there is no sensation to it. The result is a set of 2D pictures showing bone, joints, teeth and certain soft tissue, the lungs being the common one. A low dose of ionising radiation is used, and your clinician will talk that through with you first. Depending on what is being imaged you may be sat, stood or lying down, and several angles are often taken.
How long does it take?
Around 15 minutes covers a typical X-ray appointment. More than one body area will push that out a little. Before the day, your clinician and the centre you have booked will let you know what to expect for your own scan.
